hi all i took my daughter to my GP in december 2012 with a headache that would'nt go , he said it was migraine and gave her meds , after another 5 days she was getting worse so i took her back and he sent us to the hospital ! they took bloods and done ct and mri scans and found a cyst on her brain ! After sending images to lots of Dr they all said this was nothing , so after another 2 days they did a LP and found her pressure was 26 , they sent her home and 4 weeks later she was back in we was then told she has IIH, she has now had 6 LPs and her pressure is between 30 and 40 , Her neurdoc sent her to neuro surgeon because there was swelling to her discs ! she has now been seen in london by a neuro surgeon and he has told us that she has been misdiagnosed because there is no damage to her eyes ! he also told us that vomiting was not one of the side effects of this illness,i am so confussed can anyone help. thanks rose

Hi, I was diagnosed with IIH in December also and i am 19. I had cruel headaches sort of like a dull throbbing constantly for hours, i went to have my eyes tested and my optic nerves were swollen too. I was sent to the hospital and i had ct scans and lumber punctures and my pressure was over 60. I have never had vomiting but i also know a lot of other people who haven't had this either. By listening to what you have said i would say it sounds as though your daughter has IIH. It is very similar to my story this is why i would argue that is is, although i am no doctor. If the headaches persist, keep insisting on that they keep an eye on her and urge the to reconsider her mis diagnosis. I hope this helps a little?

My daughter is 19. She has IIH. But she had horrible vomiting and was sick to her tummy. She also had blurry vision. But the worst of all of it was the head pain. They at first thought it was a migraine and that she just needed some pain meds. For 3 weeks we kept returning to the ER because our family doctor was out of town. Then one of the doctors suggested that she has IH. Well I had no clue what that was. They couldn't do a spinal because of my daughter's weight. So we tried to get into a Neuro doctor but it didn't work and we ended up back in the ER on Sept 1st, 2013. They did a spinal in the ER and her pressure was 37. The doctor still didn't believe that is what it was regardless of what it looked like. So I took her to a different hospital in another city as we live in a small town. They admitted her to the hospital and did all kinds of tests and sure enough it was IH. The neuro doctor when we saw her outside of the hospital was not very nice and she told my daughter to be tough and deal with the pain. I took her to see our family doctor and she said no you have IH you need to either have a spinal tap once a month or a shunt. I also told her that she is in so much pain she can't move. She put her on Diamox and sent us to a Neuro Surgeon which we will be seeing in the next two weeks. BTW my daughter did not have anything going on with her eyes at the eye doctor's office. But at the hospital it was a different story and if you read up on IH or Psudo tumor Cerbri it states that you do not have to have swelling around the eyes to have it. They also told us that all this would go away if my daughter wasn't over weight. I do not believe them one single bit. I have talked to so many people and they have told me loosing weight causes more problems.
