Hello I was Diagnosed on Tuesday by my nerougologist that I have IIH he ordered a spanal tap and gastric bypass surgery. He showed me in the MRI and CT where there is suppose to be two main artarys on your brain they only showed one due to fluid. He said I know you have this the question is how progresses it it and can we get in front of it. I had the tap done on Friday where the pressure was measured with me laying on my stomach with a pillow under my stomach it was measured at 13. I have been having the worst migraine of my life and went to the ER last night where the doctor told me I don't have IIH because the pressure was not high. Can someone please help me he also said taking the fluid was not necessary? Why can they not see my artery on the CT and mri I am so confused.

Oh I have had the constant migraine for over a year. Blurry vision ringing in the ear and memories loss. I am 31 years old.

The pressure should be over 25 to be classed as IIH. The headache you are experiencing could be due to low pressure caused by the lumbar puncture. In the uk that position isn't the standard for taking an LP, I've always had to lay in my side and bring my knees up to open the spaces between my vertebrae.

As for the venous sinus problem that could be congenital I guess. I'd ring and speak to your neurologist again for his thoughts. Hope you're feeling better soon.
