Omeprazole, coeliac, anxiety

This is my first ever post, so I hope Im doing it right and dont sound too much like a moaner!

So as a brief history..I have suffered with anxiety since I was 16 and I am now 22 and I'm slowly getting better with it. Up until 6 months ago it had reached its worse and now I'm starting to feel a lot better now.

About a year ago I started to get uncomfortable breathlessness that appeared to start from my stomach..This has slowly developed into an ongoing problem..first with really bad reflux and now constant bad stomachs and breathlessness.

Think I should add that I have been diagnosed Coeliac and I have started the gluten free diet for 4 months now..and the doc has had me on omeprazole on and off for around 6 months now. Also I recently increased the dosage from 20th to 40mg. I'm really starting to worry about serious things like cancer etc and wondering if anyone has had any similar problem to mine and can share some light as I can't sleep for constant worrying!

Thank you in advance smile

I feel like I should also add that I feel constantly uncomfortable in my stomach and chest, it feels tight and constantly is gurgling as I breathe (when stomach moves in and out). I still get reflux now and again whilst on 40mg Omeprazole. Bad stomachs also..which may be IBS. It just doesn't all seem normal at just 22 sad

Hey Starryeyes1992,   doesn't sound fun,  you're not alone though so try not panic I'm a few years older than you and have been like this since I was 17.  I've also been suffering from extreme anxiety attacks which as you know aren't fun!  I recently started taking domperidone 4 times a day along with my omeprazol 20mg 3 times. Initially I didn't notice a change though two weeks on I'm now managing to eat a lot better without bringing everything back up, I've still got a slightly strange feeling in my chest though that's improving to.  I use lots of Vick in a little oil burner and eucalyptus oil and that helps my chest.  I hope you start to feel better soon have a good Christmas and new year,

      Kind wishes

Aww thank you for your reply Scott, I feel privileged that someone actually responded and cared. I'm so sorry for what you're going through! Really sounds  horrible, I totally understand how vile anxiety is. But just remember as long as the work comes from you, you will see dramatic improvements and realise you wont be stuck like it forever! My anxiety seems to have calmed down a lot recently, I just tend to get low mood a lot now but I think that comes with worrying about things all the time.

Have you tried self help books? I've found they've helped the most, more than any therapist. You can be more honest with yourself than a stranger I guess and you can choose which bits are relevant to you, rather than someone else choosing what they think is relevant. I'm not sure if you have tried any but my favourite so far is 'free yourself from anxiety' by Emma fletcher. Definitely worth getting, only about 7 pound off Amazon.

Hopefully my stomach will sort itself out, I just can't help but think the worst because it feels so unnatural to have such bad gurgling and uncomfortable-ness at this age.

Thank you again for your response and I really hope you start to feel better..happy new year!

      Jemma
