omeprazole don't seem to be working

Posted , 3 users are following.

i started taking omeprazole and after one month i stopped because i had a little relief but then it started again so i went to see a gastroenterologist and he prescribed me omeprazole 40g daily, but since then nothing seems to have changed.

Sometimes haven eaten afters hr i still feel the food coming up in my throat, i have chest pain, stomach pain when i eat, lump in my throat, and shortness of breath wen i lean forward, and also wen my stomach pain it goes all the way to my back and i feel like sleeping.

i don't know if someone has had this same type of problem? If yes how did he/she overcome it?

thanks

Hi I know it is a long time since you first posted so I hope you are feeling better.  I don't know what your diagnosis is but have you considered LPR also known as silent reflux.  Have a look at the group Reflux oesophagitis and read some of the postings and see if they fit your symptoms.  It is different from ordinary reflux as those with LPR don't always get typical symptoms of hearburn.  Any way just a thought as you said the omeprazole was not working for you.

Hi No I have not had an endoscope but waiting for an appointment for ENT.

I asked GP to refer me as I was worried about vocal chord damage as I sing in a choir.  My throat is definitely better much less mucus.  Unfortunately a got a horrible cold a week before Christmas which obviously put me back.  I am off the omeprazole because it upset the ibs.

I had awful rebound symptoms which have settled down now but replaced with others caused from antibiotics and nystan for oral thrush caused by  the antibotics and increasing asthma inhalers when I was ill.  It is never ending one thing after another.  I must though get stricter with the diet not only for the throat but to try and lose some more weight (have lost 1 stone).  Of course all this has sent my anxiety soaring it is a vicious circle.

Good luck for next week let us know how is goes.
