Omeprazole - Gall Stones

Hi

I have gall stones but dont want surgery, long story, and want to wait as long as possible before getting the surgery so I was put on Omeprazole over 4 years ago. Recently I saw a new GP who asked if it worked for me and I said yes but her question made me look into it more and I have now realised that the recent bouts of really bad gas that I have been getting which are very painful and becoming more regular may be a side effect of the Omeprazole. I have other symptoms too like tiredness. I am also very concerned about other possible side effects like bones thinning etc as I am a nearly 60 female. Top and bottom is that I want to come off them. I am due to see my Dr in two weeks anyway and will speak to her then about alternatives but in the meantime want to start coming off them. From what I have read I need to come off them gradually. I was thinking of only taking one every other day for a week and then every third day etc. What do people think about this please? Also what do other people do instead of Omeprazole? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you all so much.
