My Physician gave me medication of Omeprazole (qty. 14, 20mg, 2x a day 30-min. before lunch and supper, treatment for my heartburn last 15 May '14). Profuse sweating, Pins and needles sensation in my chest and abdomen, muscular and joint pain, itchiness, rib pain (especially at the right side),some back pains, constant abdominal pain, constant hair loss, headache (especially at the side of my pituitary gland), some constriction and itchiness in my throat and other anxiety symptoms. Until now, I still feel all those adverse effects. What should I do? I need to recover as early as possible because of my job. HELP

    Hi Dax01283,

Poor you, that sounds quite nasty and frightening for you

    Have you stooped the drug?

Have you been back to your Gp, has he reported these symptoms to the pharmaceutical who manufactured it?

If you read back in this forum, you will see various people reporting similar affects but some of yours indicate acute allergic reaction to one or more ingredients, therefore you have to be seen and assessed because if you come across these ingredients again you could be far worse.

Do your own research on the internet in the meantime and read reports.

For most, this drug is safe for v short term use but your symptoms ate extreme.

    Do NOT take any more!

    Hi Man,

Those side effects are a bit too extensive I think. Try taking Gaviscon, in liberal quantities at first if needed. But I think you will have to stop smoking to prevent the heartburn. I noticed that myself. The incidence of heartburn reduced dramatically and was noticeable within a day. Do you notice you get the heartburn after smoking?? Good luck.

I found Rennie Extra a lot better than the Gaviscon the doctor gave me.
