OMEPRAZOLE SIDE EFFECTS AFTER 1 MONTH OFF... NEED ADVICE (omep ruined my life.. UPDATE)

So I had been taking omeprazole from jan-may of 2018. I've been off omeprazole for about a month and im still experiencing side effects.. still have frequent urination and neuropathy... I had my kidney function checked and a urinalysis and both said normal. I can't believe this.. I never had any of this before this awful med. I'm just wondering if this is going to stop at some point. Has anyone experienced side effects after stopping this ppi? I wonder if these are permanent? Can someone share their experience being off this med? Does this ever stop? I don't understand it..
Thank you!

Was on a PPI for 3 days...got very bloated, and constipated...They didn't help with my pain ,so I stopped them...soon as I stopped them..my symptoms eased...I get better relief from Gaviscon...or mastic gum..

Are you a diabetic? Those don't really sound like side effects from Omeprazole, especially such a short time on it. I have been on and off it since the 90's, and am now on a maintenance dose of 10 mg a day. I feel fine.

Most side effects of PPI abrupt discontinuation would be digestive related, such as constant stomach burning or acid revenge.
Taking PPI drugs is basically like not eating enough to sustain health. First you do need to be checked for diabetes. I ended up being diabetic after 3 years of PPI drugs.
In the meantime I recommend extreme nutrition through juicing if possible. Blending organic vegetables is my second choice. Raw organic vegetable are the main source of vitamins and minerals. Add some fruit as you can tolerate it. You can get over this if you are determined to change your diet.

I don't know how helpful it would be to find someone with the same symptoms, they call that anecdotal evidence and it would not help her in the end.

I can vouch for the original poster. Coming off ppi gave me neuropathy, return gastritis and now pruritus. These are absolutely rare but they are side effects seen in ppi patients. The Mayo clinic and Cleveland clinic have documented cases of this. If your stomach isn't completely healed or back to it's regular state, hypersecretion can cause nerve damage or irritate the nerves in the stomach

I had the same experience taking a different PPI - took ages to get off it (was on it for over a year) and then after some weeks symptoms were better but not gone and original problems still there to some degree (gerd etc.) but improved due to my deciding to change diet radically. My GP suggested trying Ranitadine and I have found it good - just asked for prescription dose to be dropped from 150 to 75 - and use it in conjunction with Gavascon using when I need to - rarely take the full daily dose. She says it does help heal as well as relieve and confirms that doesn't have side effects which come with PPI's - so why didn't she suggest originally I wonder!! I have also upped my exercise as I could do with loosing some weight and trying to really avoid the trigger foods - for me dark chocolate, coffee and bread - definitely gets worse when I slip into old patterns of eating! Generally speaking the original indigestion etc. much, much better so am hoping to improve further. Good luck - I think you can recover but it takes time and probably lifestyle changes are very important.
