Omeprazole Side Effects - how long for?

Took 20mg of Omeprazole for 5 weeks and had to give up because of side effect - shivers, wave of horrible feeling (not nausea), urge to sit on loo, all of which lasted for several minutes. Nine months on still getting a much reduced version, slight shivers and brief horrible feeling, once or twice a day. It has slowly reduced over the period, and is still reducing, can sometimes go several days with no occurrence, then it comes back for a couple of days. I'm convinced its the same side effect as the symptoms are so recognisable. Has anyone else had such a long term side effect or similar experience.
