i’m 14 (male) and broke my leg about a week ago, it’s not intense pain but it’s kinda hard to sleep. i’m not sure if i’m taking it correctly or if i need more dose. i was prescribed acetaminophen and it claims it’s “extra strength” and it’s 500mg per tablet. It looks like it’s supposed to be dissolved but it also says it’s easily swallowable. It has a sweet coating as welli’ve been taking 2 with water and swallow it whole but it never affects me at all. I’m not sure if i’m taking it incorrectly or maybe i need more. the same thing happened at the hospital where i was given i believe 3ml of morphine through an iv, nothing happened so they bumped it to 5ml and still nothing happened. thank you for help ??

I do not know the rules of giving a juvenile opiates for pain relief which is what morphine is. But I do know that I am really upset with your doctor for being so unwilling to give you anything but Tylenol ( which is what acetaminophen is) for the pain from a broken leg. That is totally unfair and frankly it's no wonder you're not getting relief. If you purchased your acetaphetamine at the pharmacy then ask them to clarify how you are supposed to take it. You should also contact your doctor and tell him you are still hurting and cannot sleep. It is a proven fact that people do not mend well if they're in a lot of pain during recuperation. I am a lot older than you at the age of 56 and last Tuesday afternoon I broke my ankle in 3 places and I sprained my other ankle. So you and I are kind of going through the same thing at the same time. And I had to fight for proper pain relief myself. Remember it's your pain and your leg you need to advocate for yourself. Have you talked to your parents about this? You need to make sure they are on your side as well so that they can advocate for you too.
