Pain - lower back/flank/stomach

Posted , 4 users are following.

I have been in horrific pain for months now. Had x-rays, ultra sound and examination.  Nothing has been found yet I am beset with pain most of day.

When the pain really gets excruiating is when I go to bed.

Within a few hours I awake gripped by pain in my lower back and flank left-hand side.  My stomach is just sore and getting off the bed is a calculated thing.

I am becoming depressed at the lack of diagnosis and my doctor I am sure thinks I am being - I don't know how to say it - but I feel they have given up on me.

No pain killer really controls it at its worse and I find myself moaning and rolling on the bed in pain.

I am awaiting at CT scan.

Just lonely and fed-up - and in pain.

You are facing such a challenging time. Dealing with pain 24/7 is exhausting and depressing. Wish I could give you advise that could make it better but I have none. Please know there so many others dealing with issue who get what it takes to endure this battle. I am sending my best wishes along with hugs. Keep on fighting!! 🍀🍀🍀🍀😔

I've been experiencing lower back pain for 13 years. Fortunately for me I've known what the problem was. But I understand the not knowing is the worst of it. I feel for you I really do. Something about knowing why you hurt so bad makes the pain more Justified. If at any time your doctor stops testing you or start treating you like it's in your head then I say move on. You might even consider seeing a specialist. Sometimes GP are not very good at referring you to specialist. I don't know if it's an ego thing or what. I think my GP goes the other way and refers a little too much. And since you don't just have pain in your lower back but also in the flank area I wouldn't know what specialty to recommend to you myself because of the flank area it still could be organs rather than spinal only. If it were spinal or back muscle then the obvious choice would be a neurologist. But if it was to be an organ then you need to ask Dr. Google what organs are on that side of your body to see what organs could be affecting you. But be careful not to get crazy over things you read on Google. The Mayo Clinic is a good source. Personally my best guess would be muscular back issues that are radiating into your flank area. But let's see what your CT scan says first.

Have you ever injured your back, fallen, lifted something heavy or twisted your body? Every patient has a right to more than one opinion. What kind of doctor are you seeing? Pain increase when you lay down can be pressure on a nerve, a slipped disc or a multitude of things. Get copies of all your tests results for a home file. That way if you change doctors you have everything at hand. If you think your doctor has given up on you, move on to a specialist. Ask for a CT of your back.
