pantoprazole acid rebound

hello everyone I'm sorry if this was talked about I'm new on here, I have a question I have been taking pantoprazole for about 7 days now, the reason doc has giving me it was because I had issues with my upper digestive ulcer. At doc gave me the 40 I did not like how I felt major brain fog my stomach did not feel right I Felt tingling in limbs and my body did not feel right. So I asked doc to lower the dosage he did to 20 still had brain fog and did not feel right. I have been wanting to just stop taking it but I have been hearing about acid rebound. so far just mild acid reflex issues. but I worry it might become worse once I stop taking it. Anyone on here has ever taken this for a short time and had bad acid rebound if so what helps with it?

I read that you should wean yourself off, alternating days for taking it (same 'weaning off' advice for any PPI). Afraid I can't help further, but you might want to try that for a week or two?

Thanks CaptJaneway for replying I'm on day six without the meds I have had mild acid reflex off and on most of the time it was because I didn't eat enough and pepcide or maylanta would help sort it out. I have changed my diet to a bland diet I googled what food would trigger acid reflex or rebounds found alot of good info. Made a difference and walking too I found help in yogurt, honey warm water and lighter meals salads helped. I think its working out better than I thought I was scared to have a bad acid rebound when getting off the meds but it seems not as bad as I was reading.

I'm off mine now, dropped from 30mg to 15mg. No noticeable rebound. Not totally clear but the cough is mainly at night, can be a bit random from pretty good to not so good, but no trigger I can identify. 2 pillows helps & I have to start out lying on my back, either side & the cough starts without fail. Weirdly, it's helped if I put a sweet in my mouth, I'm wondering if the extra saliva that produces has some positive effect?

It all tapers off by very early morning so I presume linked to food digestion or something.

I've noticed I do sometimes get a mild sense of heartburn but nothing mega & not too often or for too long. As the cough receded, that started! Bowel difficulties are gone (clearly the meds).

I've started taking a travellers probiotic, one we've always used in far flung places, made no concessions with my diet but MUST lose some weight to help myself more.

      Good luck.
