Persistent Pain at back of the head and neck for over a month

I've had persistent headache at the back of my head for a month now.

It varies anywhere from 1/10 pain to 8/10 pain but it's always there. It moves around the back of the head as low as the upper part of the spine and as head as the crown of the head.

Whether I'm standing, sitting, laying down, exercising, outdoors, position of my neck, inside the house makes no difference. Painkillers don't seem to help.

On three occasions I woke up with intense electrical pain in the back of head, more towards the neck area. The third time it happened, it was so painful I went to the emergency room to see if it was something dangerous. They did a CT scan and found nothing but a new sinus cyst.

Since it started, I've been more sensitive to light, suffered insomnia and lost my appetite such that I lost 12 pounds in one month.

I'm stressed all the time because of it and my doctor isn't sure whether it's a physical issue or a psychological issue but I had a neck xray and will follow up with her.
