REALLY PAINFUL AT THE TOP OF MY RIBS, UNDER MY LEFT BREAST, WHAT SHOULD I DO AND WHAT IS IT?!

THE TOP OF MY LEFT RIBCAGE HAS REALLY BEEN HURTING FOR ABOUT A DAY NOW. THE PAIN IS DIRECTLY UNDERNEATH MY LEFT BREAST. I CAN PINPOINT EXACTLY WHERE THE PAIN IS AND EVERY TIME I PRESS DOWN ON IT IT HURTS EVEN MORE. WHEN I BREATH IN DEEPLY IT HURTS ASWELL. I THINK THE PAIN IS BECAUSE I WAS WORKING LAST NIGHT WHILST LEANING AGAINST MY RIB CAGE ON THE TABLE, BUT I’M NOT ENTIERLY SURE IF THAT IS WHAT IT IS. I’M WORRIED I MAY HAVE PULLED A MUSCLE OR BROKEN/CRACKED/BRUISED MY RIBS. THE PAIN IS A CONSTANT SHARP PAIN AND FEELS ALMOST LIKE A STITCH YOU GET AFTER RUNNING. I’VE TAKEN IBUPROFEN, BUT PLEASE I DON’T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO! ANY ADVISE AND HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED smile

Hi. I had this pain last year. Mine was both sides and under the breasts. I couldn't wear a bra for a couple of weeks. I didn't go to the doctors as getting an appointment these days is nigh on impossible. I looked it up on google and found it was something called called costochondritis. It's something a lot of people get. They say there's no cure and given time it will go on it's own. Mine did. It took about 3/4 weeks though. I took co dydramol painkillers and ibuprofen which helped a little. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

On the other hand, though, I would say that earlier I felt with my fingers the edge of both of my ribs and on my right side (where it doesn’t hurt) I could distinctly feel the sharp edge of my rib cage, whereas on my left side where it hurts, I couldn’t distinguish where the edge of my rib cage was. Do you think it is possible that I broke or cracked my rib? To be honest aswell, like you said you couldn’t wear a bra for 2 weeeks, I would say that I am perfectly able to wear a wired bra and it doesn’t affect my breasts. Sorry to bother you!! Thanks smile

I remember thinking i had cracked a rib also along with other things going round in my head. Have you looked up costochondritis? It's worth a look. I can't say 100% that's what you have as I'm not a doctor but give it a read to try and put your mind at rest and then i would see your GP on Monday if possible.
