Recent diagnosis :(

Hi, I'm 18 years old and was told by my eye specialist last week that I have BIH or IIH and I have to go for an MRI in the next 4-6 weeks and be referred to a Neurologist.  I'm unsure what I should expect from the MRI and seeeing the Neurologist should I prepare myself for bad news? Should I just ignore it like it's never happened? Or should I be happy that it's been caught very early? I'm trying to loose weight but that it proving very difficult. I'm 18 years old and I'm terrified 😪

    How did your MRI go?

What next steps did you take? Lumbar puncture? Medication?

It's REALLY scary... I'm 25 and recently diagnosed and I truly understand.

We're too young to be dealing with such a chronic condition... I get it sad

The main thing is you keep on top of it. Always alert your doctor/specialists of any symptoms that alarm you. Try get into appointments quickly, don't delay the process if you can help it. And do some research - you mentioned weight loss? That's great.. that's been proven to help a lot of people with this condition.

I too want to shed a few kgs to see if that does anything.. not that I'm obese but have put on some kgs in last few years.

It's hard. But with some lifestyle changes and medication you may be able to live comfortably with this!

    I wish you well.
