Residual Cough

Hi!
Still unofficially diagnosed with Sarcoidosis but all professionals seem to be leaning that way.
Those with Sarcoidosis of Lunga
do you have a residual cough even when it’s inactive?
My pulmonologist believes it’s not active now but I consistently cough throughout that day
More like a clear my throat cough but certainly feels like a chest cough vs. post nasal drip cough.
ACE blood tear results came in- within standard range, not elevated.

I’ve always got a cough, and often chest pains despite my CT now normal after 10years. Still get breathless if I get a cold. I think many will say same. Don’t despair though, many sarcoid cases burn bright and then burn out, hope this will be you
The inflammation in sarcoid takes place at such a cellular level that sometimes the bloods don’t reveal it. Even when I was poorly (joints stiff, too breathless for stairs etc my ACE ESR and CRP were all normal and remained so. In fact until I had EBUS and node biopsy from lung diagnosis wasn’t made.
Many will tell you of unexplained symptoms fatigue brian fog coughs and pain that sometimes get dismissed as they’re not in the specialist field of the doctor you’re seeing
The first time I saw a doc who actually understood sarc i bashfully listed all my symptoms and she said ‘of course you have all those things’ it was the first time that I felt believed and it was a turning point. She also gave me a big jab of steroids which helped a lot!
For me key was finding a specialist who knew about sarcoidosis. It’s quite rare so many docs just know the name, or just know their bit of it. Just last week bowel specialist said to me that sarc doesn’t affect the bowels, I kept my counsel but had just read published articles about the same!
Best wishes

Hi Jessica,
Many moons ago my initial discovery of Sarcoidosis was based on a cough that would not clear. Following x-ray/CAT Scan/biopsy my Sarcoidosis of the chest was confirmed.
My cough did clear eventually. I don't know how effective the steroid inhaler l was prescribed was in assisting this, but it did clear. I still (after 7 years) have an inhaler twice a day, and hope l never regress to having that cough or even worse the coughing fits which would have me on the floor and useless for hours on end.
Good luck with your condition, and hope it gets better for you, as it did for me!
Kind regards
David
