Rib cartilage removal for severe, chronic costochondritis

Posted , 2 users are following.

I have had chronic, severe costochondritis in my 4/5th left ribs where they meet the sternum for around a decade (the entirety of my 20s more or less). It's extremely painful and has put my life on hold for so long now. After trying quite literally every treatment for this chronic pain and several scans and blood tests, I have finally had discussions with a thoracic surgeon who specialises in rib malformations to discuss removing the cartilage from those two ribs where they join to my sternum.

I was wondering if anyone has ever had this treatment or known someone who has? I can't seem to find anything and whilst I'm sure those people exist, I have no way of finding anyone who has experienced it and can tell me anything about it.
