Sandimigran .. the weight gain

Hi there

I am a chronic migraine sufferer and have been put on Sandomigran.  Needles to say I have put on quite a bit of weight  and given my age (51) .. I really can’t affors to put more on.  Is there anyone at all that knows if it is the actual tablet that causes weight gain or the side effect of increased appetite?  I need to make a decision as my other alternative is Topamax and I have read too many negative reviews on this .. thanks all

I took topamax for 5 or 6 years and I had zero problems with it. It stopped my migraines. I did not have a migraine in all that time. However I had to stop taking it because I had developed a fatty liver (not from this med) and I didn't have a migraine that entire time. They are back now with a vengeance since I had to stop them. As far as your weight gain goes it's simple, if you consume more calories than you burn you gain weight. I have been taking prednisone for about 2 years. I struggle to maintain my weight on it. But the pain that prednisone stops is well worth the few pounds I might gain.

Thanks so much .. I too have fatty liver so I have to be careful.  I think it’s the increase of appetite I need to get under control.  All the best .
