I have sarcoidosis that has gone I to remission. However, I still have lingering chest pain. Does it ever go away?

    Hi Elizabeth

A word of caution if I may.

When I went into so called remission (there no such thing as a full remission from sarc in my humble opinion) I still had pains that the doctors said where in my mind.

It took many years to find out that I was in fact suffering from three conditions at the same time, all having similar symptoms.

Gall bladder with pains on the right side lower rib cage...bladder removed still had pains again must be in my head.

Some years later discovered I had Diverticulitis...colon issues again pains in lower right side.

It took decades before all three issues were identified and acted on.

I do not wish all this ill health on you the same as me but don't assume that remaining pains all belong to Sarcoidosis.

Now I have been identified with late in life asthma again chest pains were the issue so the doctor keep issuing me with depressants. He continued to increase the strength as well...now we know it is only asthma. Depressants are now going into the bin. Glad to see the end of them.

    Regards

    Hi Elizabeth,

Tangles is right; it all depends on how much damage sarcoidosis did. Additionally, it's true that there's no full remission from sarc. When I was going through a "remission", my ACE levels were still elevated, which means that sarcoidosis was still active but not that much.

however, coming down to your question, I also had that chest pain you mention. After years of treatment, it's almost gone. I still have chest pain from time to time, especially during physical exertion (such as climbing a hill or stairs). Chest pains are more severe during sarcoid flares up, though are not that severe as they used to be. so, it all depends from one patient to another, but it's possible to get rid of chest pain...

I agree with the others. I kind of expect to live with aches and pains, even when the sarcoid has become invisible to xrays and blood tests, but you should discuss chest pain with your doctor just to rule out other causes. I was swimming once and nearly sank to the bottom as a ripping pain in my chest was so severe, felt like something had torn, havent dared to swim since!

Tangles, feel your pain! I've had the same experience with some doctors denying that my pain is real - but there are some enlightened docs out there too smile
