Spreading numbness with severe pain episodes. Desperate need of help.

Hello. im here to see if I can find answers for my girlfriend who has had this issue plaguing her for a bit. She is currently experiencing numbness that is spreading through her body with severe pain episodes that leave her unable to walk at times. She describes it as a feeling that her limbs are being chopped off but since her numbness leaves her with no outside sensation it's almost like phantom pain. We've tried the hospital but they claim there's nothing they can do dispite running almost no tests. she's maxed on the pain killers she can take but it's still excruciating pain. We think it's spinal but since no one will bother to help her im hoping there's something here. She is giving up and says ending it might be the only end. we're desperate for even just a lead. She also has alpha thalasemia and aneamia and we think it's not related but have no idea. If you have any information on what this could be and any treatments or doctors that will actually bother to help her please respond. Thank you.
