Still having trouble

Doing trial and error with acid suppressants. None of them seem to help, as I've said in a previous post. Trying Lansoprazole 15mg. All I have had up to now is bad nausea, sore dry throat and sore tongue. Last night I had terrible burning in the gullet down to my stomach after I took my bedtime Gaviscon Advance. Woke at 3am with bad pain just below sternum and spasming in chest. Doctor suggests taking this twice a day now. I am feeling worried about this as I dont think I could cope with anymore. This has been going on for three years plus and I am not coping

Can anyone relate to this please?

    Hi jeanne,

i suffered exactly the same last night, i was prescribed 30mg lansoprazole for 8 weeks for silent reflux and for the first few weeks it worked fine. However, the last 2 weeks or so i have suffered achey legs, calfs feeling like they are going to cramp and chest spasms identical to yours.

so much so last sunday i was taken to a&e because the ambulance crew thought i was having a heart attack!

Reading the side effects of anti acids and i think this coild be the result of them....

can anyone drop in and confirm?

Hi, Jonb1010, That's very interesting. Glad you got some relief from the Lansoprazole and well done for managing to stick on them for more than a week which is when I usually have a panic attack and give up causing even worse symptoms! I have had the blue lights trip a few times and it puts the wind up you, doesn't it? Nice to be checked and reassured but you feel bad about wasting their time especially with the current situation and you are no nearer finding out what the real trouble is

Mine is supposed to be silent reflux too and I have read so much about ppis being dreadful drugs and no better than placebo if it's just silent reflux, how they can make healthy volunteers start to experience reflux when they stop taking them because of withdrawal that I start off being scared of them. Every new symptom then I put down to the drug not the illness. When the new symptoms go away once you stop the drug it's a bit persuasive though. Depending on your personal biochemistry I suppose everyone experiences different reactions. Someone will post their experience and hopefully this will help you. I think ppis are associated with stuff like you mention due to not absorbing vitamins? I don't know but someone will. Always check with your GP though. Best wishes.
