Sudden sharp and severe pain in right lower shin

Hello everyone.

I've been having very sharp and severe pain that radiates in my lower right shin bone. It comes on every few minutes and even wakes me up at night. The pain has been severe enough that it can make me feel nauseous.

?The skin around the area is not discolored. There is no swelling in my shin, foot or leg. The area feels normal -- it isn't numb, cold or hot. The skin does not feel sore, bruised or painful to touch.

?I haven't fallen recently, nor do I play any sports. Nothing has hit my shin.

?I'm a 55 year old female. Slightly overweight. I do have arthritis in my hands, back, and hips.

?The pain began three days ago and feels as if it's increased in frequency, but the pain level has remained the same.

?Anyone have any ideas of what might be going on?

Thank you so very much for time.
