Weak immune system???

Hello all.  I have a few questions for the group.  I was diagnosed with sarcoidosis of the lungs about 4 years ago.  After my initial treatment (lasted about a year) I have lived a relatively normal / healthy life since with very minimal symptoms.  My question that I have yet to find is as follows:  do we as sarc patients (who are not on any kind of treatment)  have a compromised immune system that would be considered high risk for colds and viruses?  Thanks in advance!

    Hi James,

I was told by my doctor that having sarcoidosis does comromise your immune system. And this is why we need to gather as much nutritional information as we possibly can and implement it into our diets to keep our immune system up as much as possible. I noticed that when i changed my diet which added more vitamins, minerals, amino acids and such. I didn't catch a cold or the flu for seven years. And i work in a hospital environment where as I'm around sick people all the time. Just recently i caught some type of bug from my husband who was sick before i caught it. And 2 weeks before my husband caught it, both my grandaughter and grandson who lives with us caught the flu a week apart. So my immune system was doing pretty good for me to have been the last one in the house to catch it.

So good nutrition is definitely a key factor in boosting a compromised immune system!
