I've had chronic hives for 3 1/2 years. The Allergist prescribed Blexten which has been fine up until recently but the hives are now getting worse. is there anyone who actually found a cure? Waiting for an appointment with the allergist again.

i've had chronic hives for almost 3 years - with angioedema and several anaphylactic attacks. i tried every antihistamine under the sun and have been on a fair few short steroid treatments. i was put on Xolair about 12 months in, which i ceased only 3 months ago. xolair worked after about 6 months, i believe it should work faster but the clinic was administering it incorrectly for 3 months. i would say i'm in remission now and only get the occasional (small) flare up (usually when i'm very stressed or if i have a lot of processed food or alcohol, or if i forget a dose of antihistaminesl). i stopped xolair against my immunologists advice because by the last few doses it was actually making my hives worse, but i think i am much better off for using it.
