Dermoid cysts help.... I'm 24

Posted , 3 users are following.

So not sure where to go who to ask so I thought this is a good place to start I'll give some basic info.

Started my period when I was 10 , had acne , depression panic disorder, weight gain & pain over the years since.

Dr referred me in 2008 - polycystic ovaries diagnosis

Past year got worse , lots of pain, even more irregular than normal , pain during sex , or really frequent periods every 1-2 weeks.

Dr took swabs for stds & smear test along with other swabs , 2 months ago - all normal so sent me to have a internal scan.

Had the internal scan last week and got the results from the dr yesterday and said I have a dermoid cyst on each ovary and will ( he hesitated) send me to see A gynaecologist.

I have bad mental health and obviously hearing this had triggered something , I don't know what it is ?

I have always wanted to have kids does this mean I won't ?

Why is it painful ?

I'm scared and not sure what to do ?

Any help appreciated xx

Did he say how big they are?

The pain is probably caused by the weight of the cysts.

I had a large softball sized dermoid removed (along with the whole left ovary) during the c-section of my second child, six years ago.

I have another dermoid, around 4.5cm on my remaining ovary, and I became pregnant with it there, last March. Sadly, my daughter was stillborn in August due to an infection...had nothing to do with having the cyst.

I have an appointment with a fertility specialist on the 22nd of December, to discuss if I should have the cyst removed or let it go longer, being that I want to get pregnant again.

My cycles are regular and I have been pregnant three times with the cysts.

They do not affect fertility unless they grow very large..but they do have a risk of twisting your ovary.

The gynecologist will probably discuss having them removed and you will be fine!! GL to you!

This speaks to me on a spiritual level. SAME SAME SAME.

I have Demroid cysts on both ovaries. I've had 4 surgeries in 2 years with depression and anxiety.

It just happens there's no cause really. As far as kids according to my doctor I won't be able to have cause I also have endometriosi, plus cysts do my ovaries are pretty much "f*cked up" I'm getting a second opinion obviously but still it hurts.

Surgery doesn't hurt if it's OP. You'll be good in 3ish days

Thanks for a reply Hun , oh its bloody horrible and painful it's hard enough but with anxiety it's a disaster I'm constantly thinking the worst and I'm sure you know what I'm talking about lol , I'm sorry to hear that sad don't give up keep trying ! That's the dreaded news I don't want to hear.

Be strong and you will get to your destination smile x
