Elbow problems

Hi,

Was wondering if anyone had a similar problem and could comment please. Or please leave comments if you might know what it could be. Here is my story/ symptoms. Much appreciated.

For info, I am 32 year old male.

The problem with my left elbow started 8 weeks ago when I was leaning on my elbows a lot when working on my laptop. First symptom I noticed was numbness of my left arm pinkie and rings fingers. Just a permanent reduced feeling. Very quickly this was accompanied by aching/ tender feeling in my elbow (probably 2 days after). Soon, I had an aching tiredness feeling in my whole arm pretty much, even bicep area. I also have the general weakness and clumsiness of the arm/ hand. Also, some nerve twitching occurs from time to time in my arm.

I was noticing that whenever I would massage the ‘funny bone’ area, I would get a tingling feeling in my forearm and fingers. This funny bone associated tingling is now gone however since end of week 5 (Have not had this for 3 weeks). I feel some pain in this area now.

In addition to what I described above, I noticed that I have this acute pain whenever I place the elbow on any surface – just very slightly to the right of the elbow tip. There is a vein or nerve in this area that I can physically feel under skin when I touch and this what hurts to the touch immensely.

From week 6 I also noticed that I have a painful lump at the elbow tip. It is small, but is located almost exactly where the painful nerve/ artery I talked about is.

Over this period of 8 weeks I have been resting my arm a lot, using ice, doing nerve gliding exercises, taking ibuprofen, vitamin b, but seen no improvement. Maybe the only thing, which has improved is the numbness of the fingers, which seems to go away sometimes.

To make things worse, I also have now the aching and weakness in my other arm, but none of the other symptoms.

The musculoskeletal specialist to which my GP referred, said that this is most likely cubital tunnel syndrome and asked me to do some exercises and just give it some time to heal, but seeing that I had no improvement over 8 weeks is getting me worried. Also, some of the symptoms don’t match. Maybe this is a combination of several conditions.

I have attached photo of my elbow lump.

Thanks in advance.
