Elbow Replacement Young

hello new to the group and realize Im a minority when it comes to elbow replacement. First things first, Im a 38 year old teacher who experienced a terrible break 2 years ago due to an unfortunate accident. i had radial head replacement for stability but unfortunately there was nothing they could do for my ligaments and such. I have had 4 surgeries, two to get my radial head just right and 2 cleanouts...removal of bone spurs, ossifications, etc. Its been one year since my last surgery and now yet again my arthritic change in my elbow has progressed quite rapidly. On top of this my ulnar nerve is entrapped and is starting to cause neurapathy. Ive tried cortisone injections, clean-outs, and OT yet no results. So now because of the severity of my injury, progression of the arthritic tissue and "bone" im in pain daily and yet life seems to go on...i go to work but each day gets worse. i have an excellent elbow specialist who has done 1 of 4 of my surgeries. Honestly the only option for me is total elbow replacement w/ulnar nerve whatever it is caused. Even though im younger than the normal age for this procedure it seems to be the only option. any advice, comments, and well wishes are appreciated. Surgery will be this summer if i can make it.

hi brad i am in the same position as you. bascily there is 3 options. 1 total replacemet and less or no pain but a limited use cause of the weight limit. 2 fused elbow good for activ people you get a strong arm but limited movment, that is why the doctors dont do that operation so much. 3 live with the pain if is possible so you can use the arm. personerly i will wait more years until the replacement is better, lets say you can use it wit 20 kg insted of 2,5 kg as it is now. sorry it sucks but that is how it is. one advice train and train eaven if it hurts it will get a little better when you bulid your muscles arround the joint. jesper
