Hashimoto's???

Hey, just wondering if anyone has Hashimoto's disease? I saw a specialist a couple of weeks ago who told me I most likely have this. I went from extreme hyperthyroid to hypothyroid. Skinny and energetic to sluggish and heavy. I'm pretty miserable with it. I've just been sent a letter with my levels:
8 May - TSH .03, free T4 29.3, WBC count 5.1
15 June - TSH 15.95, free T4 9.9
6 July - TSH 12.38, free T4 8.3
Any help on what all that actually means would be marvellous!
Thanks

I'm sorry to hear that you have problems with your thyroid. The best thing to do is ask your doctor to interpret the results.
I was diagnosed with Hashi's ten years ago. My symptomes were: weight gain, water retention, being tired, feeling cold all the time... When they checked my thyroid hormones (T3 and T4) + TSH they also checked for thyroid antibodies (TPO). They were and still are elevated. My T4 and T3 were low and TSH was extremly elevated.
If you cite T4 values in µg/dL, your last two results are in the normal range. THS is usually elevated if the thyroid does not produce enough of its hormones (T3 and T4). Note that most of the T3 comes from T4 being converted into T3. Has your T3 been checked? If it is low it may provoke the oversecretion of TSH. Maybe the problem is in the conversion of T4 to T3?
A part from the TSH, has your pituitary gland been checked? It secretes among other things the TSH.
If your WBC results are 5.1 billion cells/L, they are OK. The lower limit is around 3.5 billion cells/L.
I hope this helps.
Please be patient and work with your doctors. Read about the thyroid so that yu can ask the right questions and knwo which symptomes to look for.
I'd avoid goitrogens (soy / peanuts/ broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower espcrially raw or not well cooked)...) as they can interfere with the thyroid function.
Best of luck!

I hope I'm not being too pushy if I ask you for some advice regarding Hashimoto's. Could you please send me too the email exchange you mentioned? Even though I have my Hashi's under control (Levotyrox and Euthiral), I'd love to see if there's anything more I can do to improve my health. To be honest, despite the meds, proper diet and exercising I never really got rid of all teh symptomes.
Thank you in advance!
