Intrathoracic stomach surgery

After many bouts of chocking and vomiting digestive fluids, I was diagnosed with an intrathoracic stomach. The first surgeon scared me by saying surgery was so risky he would have to sit down with me, my husband and grown kids and explain the severity of the risk before surgery. I found another surgeon and he will do this robotically. He also said it's a hard complicated surgery with more than average risk but he sounds confident he can do it. I am not sure if this is because mine is a really bad case or because I'm 71. I am a female who ten years ago had a gastric bypass. Maybe that factors in somehow also, already having had stomach surgery. I would like to hear from anyone who had the surgery recently!
