Is it a swollen gland or fatty tissue?

So i am not sure how does a swollen lymph node look like-- will it be clearly visible to the eye that it is swollen or will it be just under the skin and can only be felt when you touch? When you normally look, my armpit looks normal. But when i touch, i feel a small lump kinda thing. It's been there since 3 -4 months and no pain. Yesterday, when i touched it, it felt a little tender but then a few hours when i touched it again, no pain.

Thing is i am recently panicking with hiv fear and am scared if this is a hiv symptom. I never had any noticeable pain with this lump, only yesterday i felt it a little tender to touch. The area looks normal to the eye. Does hiv cause painful swollen lymoh nodes or can they be painless as well?
