Peanut size swelling weeks after hemorrhoidectomy

i had a hemorrhoidectomy done to remove 3 moderate internal hemorrhoids on August 11th. It's now one month post op, and here's a quick run down of my healing process that has now led to my current concern.

In the days immediately following the procedure i had the common symptoms they warn you of Pain, trouble with bowel movements, swelling etc.

At my two week post op follow up, i was feeling pretty good. The swelling was minimal, and the worst of the pain has subsided.

The start of week 3, i began to feel more pain and discomfort coming back. Essentially i now have a peanut sized "ball" of swelling that has the appearance of a large external hemorrhoid. it's very painful and tender to the touch and almost sticks out enough that when i sit its also touching the chair. I went back to the doc for a follow up and he essentially said it's abnormal that i'd develop that kind of swelling after how good everything looked previously and that it's too soon to tell what it is exactly or what to do with it, and wants me to go back in another 2 weeks. it's painful to sit, walk, just about anything. It also gives me a rather constant urge to clench my anus, almost like an uncontrolled muscle spasm.

Has anyone experienced this sort of thing? Looking for the light that says it's normal swelling and will go away, but hoping that it's not going to require another surgery.
