Sinus Infection-An effective treatment

Posted , 19 users are following.

I was a chronic sinus sufferer for 50 years, and was treated by many specialists, with limited long term improvement. Cortorised nose cavity treatment twice, gave temporary relief, but the sinus problem returned. I relied on the normal treatments, such as anti-histamines, sinutabs, Avil retards, nasal sprays and drops, plus analgesics, for temporary relief, on a perpetual basis. It was a never ending saga, with no prospect of improvement. My sinuses were particularly affected by high humidity, weather changes, kapok dust, plant pollens, cigarette smoking, and some foods such as nitrates and eggs. I had to leave the coast and live inland to get relief from high humidity. At age 65 I found a complete cure, with absolutely no sinusitis, and no hayfever. The answer to my problem was simply taking one evening primrose capsule each day. This treatment worked the first day. Evening Primrose oil works by desensitising the nervous system, including the nostrils and sinuses. No hayfever, no sinusitis, no drugs required. I took one evening primrose capsule each day for twelve months, in order to prevent a recurrence of the problem, and to desensitise the sinuses fully. Now I only take an evening primrose capsule if I am in a particularly challenging situation, such as in a smoking environment, or in a humid location on the coast. This was a miracle cure for me, after a lifetime of intense perpetual sinus problems, with regular debilitating headaches, even after taking sinus tablets and strong analgesics. Give this treatment a try if you suffer from hayfever or sinusitis. You may be as surprised as I was.

    Hi Raymond,

This is really interesting so thanks very much for sharing it.  I've taken evening primrose every day for about 20 years!  It was prescribed for something completely different (mastalgia - pain in the bosom!), but when I read about how EP works in the body I realised it was good for just about everything (joints, tissues etc) so just kept on taking it.  If I run out of capsules and miss a few days the pain returns!

I used to get sinusitis after just about every cold and sometimes had to get antibiotics, although one GP told me that inhaling steam with menthol crystals would probably be as effective, so I always did that - until I stopped getting sinus trouble.  I actually can't remember a sinus problem in the last 20 years or so - suddenly your post makes complete sense!

I've always recommended evening primrose (I take Nature's Aid 1000mg daily), but never knew it would help sinus problems - thanks Ray!!

P.S. Not connected, but please NEVER take a Quinolone antibiotic (e.g. Ciprofloxacin) - if they're prescribed ask for something else.  They are dangerous and were developed for anthrax-type serious bacteria.  They were certainly not meant for low-grade infections.

Ciprofloxacin, that's what they put me on, I stopped taking it. AWFUL antibiotic. I couldn't even walk around the house, I was that dizzy. The pharmacy clerk even asked why my MD gave me hospital-grade antibiotics..  Been batteling this on my own now.

I had a bad experience with Ciprofloxacin about 1.5years ago for an infection in bladder. I remember I felt so sick, giddy and vomiting and have to strength to even walk, after taking the antibiotic. After 2 days I went back to my PCP and was given Augmentine instead. The medicine worked within a few hours and I could go back to work the following day. The clinic also called me to check if I was doing ok.

I wanted to share this experience with others here.

Very interesting Raymond.  I'm continuing to be miserable after at least 50 years now.  I'll  give the Evening Primrose a try.   I'm assuming you use the 1,300 mg capsules.  I see they are availabe at health food stores.

I sympathise with you, a fellow long term sinusitis sufferer. The evening primrose capsules referred to are the common 1000mg variety available at most good supermarkets. They are not expensive, and are quite often on special. They take about four hours to start working and give relief for about 24 hours after that, so one a day has been found to be effective. I hope you find this treatment works on your sinuses. Let me know. Anything is worth a try after 50 years. Best of luck in your test.

Evening Primrose capsules (1000mg) work in about 4 hours, and the affect lasts a further 24 hours, so one capsule daily is normally adequate. Your son should avoid obvious irritants, such as cigarette smoking, to give this treatment a fair trial. I suggest a trial for one month, and if there is no marked improvement then the treatment is not working. Bert of luck in your endeavour to cure this lifetime problem.

Thank you Ray, I will give it a try.  I have been suffering with sinus related problems for a year now, when I picked up an infection in a swimming pool.  ENT department haven't been able to help very much, so hopefully this will! Thanks again smile

I have found the Evening Primrose Oil 1000mg capsule to be effective in reducing the sensitivity of the nervous system.

It takes about 4 hours to work and it is effective for a further 24 hours, so one capsule daily is usually sufficient.

These capsules are readily available from supermarkets, and the price is quite low.

Best of luck in your treatment.

    Regards Ray.

I find the 1000mg Evening Primrose Oil capsule is usually effective in about 4 hours and remains effective for a further 24 hours, so one capsule daily is usually effective.

There is no time to take Evening Primrose Oil, but I usually take it at night. I am sure it works at any time.

I am sure you will find this treatment effective for any allergic complaint.

    Regards Ray.
