Surgery for Achalasia: Fundoplication and Heller myotomy

My husband had Surgery for Achalasia, a laparoscopic Fundoplication and Heller myotomy.

This was performed 3 years ago. he has struggled with achalasia for 8 years now and it has progressively got worse.

We thought the Surgery would help, but it has caused more spasms and pain. At times food gets stuck which stresses him out and he has times of not being able to breathe properly as well as Intense chest pain where he describes it as being like his chest wall feels like it is tearing open.

I feel helpless as there's nothing he can do or I can do to help it. With every meal he has to drink 2-3 litres of water to get each mouthful down.

Does anyone have any remedies or treatments that they have found successful with achalasia?
