I was diagnosed with HS when I was 15. I am now 18. I've had so many doctors and hospital appointments I've basically lost count now. I was told and given pretty much the same advice as anyone else. Lose weight and take all these antibiotics, I actually no longer take antibiotics for this, i found that personally it make my hs much worse. I take painkillers when the pain gets unbearable. My hs gets worse with stress and if it is too hot. My hs has made me a totally different person i used to have a lot of confidnce but now i have very little to none. I'm sure alot of people on this are in the same boat and we are all very similar. I just feel like this is a great place to get my feelings about this off my chest.

I am also 18 but just been diagnosed in December. I have had it since I was 14 and I have missed out on a lot of education. I failed college because of it and I also got a low grade on my gcses because of my attendance. Since I was in and out of hospital a lot so I know what you are going through. I am stuck in the house constantly because I have always got an abscess and it hurts to walk. I have no self esteem what so ever either so if you ever want to talk. I'm here.

I feel like we have a similar story, i have missed a lot of college because of appointments which seemed to be pointless. I don't really leave the house that often either because I get quite paraniod about my hs, because i know about it i sometimes feel other people might notice. If you ever want to talk either feel free to give me a message it would be nice to talk to someone who understands for once. smile

Hi I really feel for you getting this dreadful illness at so young an age.  I found stress makes mine a lot worse too.

I was so relieved I found this site as I don't feel so alone now and it's great to be able to talk about it with others and learn things isn't it?

I find that long term ab's don't work for me but short terms ones (doxyclycline) do at least stop the infection and the pain which is a blessing.

This is a great place isn't it?
