Thats one of infections that puts you at risk, of failure. Good girl, now to get over UTI. I had UTI immediately after first hip replacement, hospital suggested it was because of cathether causing irritation, but they were not taking any chances and put me on some really strong anti-biotics, by drip for a start, and then followed up with tablets for 10 days.

Let's hope it clears up and they reschedule you soon, don't want to be waiting about for too long.

It happened to me as well erika infact its happened to a lot of us. I was scheduled to go in on a wed and they called me at 4pm night before to say l had traces of mrsa in my throat and that l would need to go through to get the shampoo and creams to get rid of it before they done op. 2 weeks l was delayed l cried that full night as l had myself all ready for the op the next day. I had my pre op a week before it and it took them up to thr night before for them to tell me. I was angry and really upset so l know how you feel hun. Keep your chin up it will hapoen..

Well .. in the current vernacular ...that just sucks!

So sorry to hear that. Can they give you another date right away?

I hope you can line up some friends to have a 'sympathy bash' to do anything you might not be up to post-op.

Hugs ... and hope you recover quickly and get the new date even more quickly.

Thank you Linda!! I like never get sick and not only do I have this dumb UTI I have a cold??!! What is happening??!!! sad

Well ... I suspect that if we asked the doctor, we might hear something along the lines of: Well dear, chronic pain over extended periods does lower your immunity (it also increases your blood pressure).... so it is actually surprising that there are not more cancellations like is. And, think of it this way too ...your bad fortune was someone else's good fortune as someone surely got bumped up the list (this is how I got moved up so quickly).

So ... try to put aside the disappointment ... I would also be very, very frustrated. Just think of the extra time to get well, make sure your place is well and truly stocked with all you will need, line up friends to come and help or just keep company and ... do celebrate Mr or Ms Lucky Enough to be Bumped Up 's good fortune.

You will get there soon and restart the whole 'Mad' journey.

      Hugs.

Hello everybody tomorrow is DAY for my hip replacement , I'm just having my last meal ( spaghetti bolognese ) . I feel strange today I don't know wether to be nervous scared or sad . But there's no going back now , so roll on tomorrow and me become a hippie ... Lol

Hi Scott - good luck and welcome. Look up Sarah's great post from today (We're all mad here). And as somerset recommended (Renée?), just surrender to the hospital and surgeon.

Tomorrow is the first day in your life s a hippie and it will be great. Okay ... not quite right away, but it gets good fairly soon and losing the bone-on-bone pain is FABULOUS!

Be kind to yourself, let others spoil you for a while and best wishes for a smooth recovery.

      Good luck.
