(37 M) Is it possible to fix a crooked finger years after the injury had happened?

About 4 years ago, I had an accident and broke my left middle finger. Due to some reasons, I didn't get proper treatment and left it to heal by itself. It has been crooked since. It is bent inward and I cannot straighten it. It looks like a mallet finger(a term I discovered on google). I work as a web developer and I can't type as fast as I should because of this. I am wondering if there is a way to fix it after this many years. If it is not fixable, would it get worse as I get older? Any help would be much appreciated!

Hallo Isaac. It is possible but it would need to be assessed very carefully by an orthopaedic surgeon as you didnt get proper treatment in the first place. It can involve a tendon graft, depending on the assessment. Make sure you find an orthopaedic surgeon who specialises in hand surgery. He/she will have expertise in this type of procedure.
