    Jill,

i had a revision of tkr because of a metal sensitivity to nickel. i had this done early December and i can only walk or stand very briefly.

My doctor told me healing would be 1-2 years . i know every case is different but what have you been told. your ability to return to work would depend on your ability to do retail . i hope your doctor can give you some realistic picture on your recovery.

i had a revision after 26 months. Despite exercises, medication, i could not walk distances as previous and additional problems. After many diagnostic tests, and other second opinions, it was found that i had a sensitivity to nickel confirmed by blood test and patch test. i now have a new total replacement w titanium.

Hope this helps. i never suspected any metal sensitivity and like you am hoping for the best.

Let me start by saying every knee surgery is different. I have had 3 TKRs.The last one 41/2 months ago. My revision has been the easiest. My surgeon warned me to take it slowly and that it was a 2 year journey. Because id just had surgery 10 months earlier i knew all the exercises and did and still do a gym workout 3 times a week and with my surgeon in agreement didnt go to physio.I was off meds except for nights at 3 weeks. The knee still looks larger than the other one and warm to the touch bu i have no pain and walk without a limp.

Ive just got out of the hospital today as i had my appendix out on Sunday. What id noticed in the hospital was that my knee started to feel stiff and swollen. i think it was from laying in bed and limited walking. The surgeon said no work out for 6 weeks even when i explained about my knee.
