‘Empty’ feeling stomach pains - acid reflux??

Posted , 2 users are following.

hi i've been suffering with a reoccuring pain in my stomach/tummy area above my tummy button but not high up like in my chest for the last 14 months. its almost like my stomach is empty and i have really bad hunger pains but it isnt that because i am eating. it almost feels like something is attacking me. this is sometimes accompanied by nausea. when i get these attacks, they can last about 5days and then i can be perfectely fine again for 1-2 months. i have had blood tests, an ultrasound scan and a h pylori test and all come back saying im fine. my doctor has said it could be acid reflux and has put me on omeprazole 20mg once a day for the last couple of months and i dont know if its helping because i still get the pain. does anyone know if this is acid reflux because i dont get any of the heartburn or acid coming up in my throat etc? please help! thank you

    hello lucy,

sounds like some gastritis type c. which according to Google more then 50 % of the over 50 year olds have. This type of gastritis does often go without pain.

Reflux can also be gas which you don't recognize (silent reflux). Being careful with what and when to eat will probably help. All the best!

thank you so much for your reply 😃

it sometimes moves to around my ribs which can feel like it could be gas as well. but the stomach pain is like a pain i cant really describe.

i guess half the worry is not knowing what it is! but ive had it come and go for so long that i try to tell myself it wouldnt go away for like 6 weeks if it was anything too serious.

i am considering an endoscopy but i am soooooo scared to have one. i also worry that it would only work if i had it during a time when i have symptoms

you are welcome! Well I had an endoscopy myself and they diagnosed gastritis type c. I can recommend doing one it is not supposed to be dangerous. If something is wrong in that area they will find it.
