"Functional vision loss"

My opthamologist says I have Functional vision loss. I've been having sever vision problems for 8 months now. I've seen a handful of specialist up to a neuro ophthalmologist at the University of Utah (I live in Maine so I was flown to Utah to see this doctor) and they have found nothing that cause my vision problems. I'm really not sure if they diagnosed me with functional vision loss because they really think I have a mental illness causing this or if they are just out of options trying to figure it out so they just made a bs diagnosis. This has happened to me in the past several times in the past 10 Years but always went away within a few months. Every time I've seen an opthamologist and neurologist and found nothing wrong. If anybody has any experience or advice I'd be very grateful. I'll list my symptoms.

Blurry vision that varies daily.

Spotty vision, I'll look at something and some areas around it will be blurred out.

Glare off of objects.

Shadow vision.

A lot of floaters which may be normal for me I'm just super sensitive to my vision with all this going on.

Hard time focusing.

Sever anxiety and depression everyday.

I have been diagnosed with an anxiety/panic disorder, as well as depression. In regards to your eye sight, I too have a couple of the symptoms you've been facing. I sometimes have spotty vision, as well as shadow vision, especially when I'm stuck in bed and constantly on my cell phone. I also experience a lot of floaters but those are completely normal. I normally deal with these symptoms after I've been glued to a screen which is understandable. I haven't gone to the eye doctor for it, it hasn't impacted me much. It's occasional. Just know you aren't alone, these symptoms occur with me as well. Having a difficult time focusing is also understandable. I have dealt with that as well. Take care. x

Hey Norm thank you for your reply. this has definitely taken a toll on me and doesn't seem to be getting any better. I actually just had an appointment with a psychiatrist I missed today because I can't drive and couldn't find a ride. I live in Maine so there isn't much option for public transportation. I have to wait until Feb 28 now

I definitely understand what missing appointments is like. It's awful. I can't drive either because of my anxiety, so I really do understand. I hope February 28th gets here quick! I really hope you feel better soon, Tyler!
