+Inflamed liver

Posted , 3 users are following.

After a series of Lft 's which showed my alp levels as raised (209 to 222) I had an ultrasound scan 2 weeks ago. I have since had a letter from my Consultant which confirms I have 'a few inflammatory changes' and that I have now been referred to a liver specialist. What might my outlook be and what sort of treatment might I expect.

Thanks.

Not an expert here.... but have seen an hepatologist myself for discomfort and liver problems in recent months. Interestingly enough, none of my liver blood test values are "abnormal" by themselves, but combined they point to NASH (still trying to figure out how that exactly works). Thus far, the only advice I have been given by the "experts" is to lose weight (I am a little overweight but certainly not obese) and moderate alcohol consumption.

I am awaiting confirmation for NASH. I have had the scan. what else do they do to confirm? I am overweight by about 3 stone but have never understood quite why as I am not a huge eater. I'm not one for cakes and biscuits, although I used to have a bar of chocolate nearly every day but all my meals are pretty healthy. mostly home made and I rarely drink alcohol. but Nash is non alcohol related isn't it?

hi I am not certain about numbers as I have not been told mine but I think I have nash. just awaiting confirmation on that though. my scan showed high numbers that currently appear to be bordering on cirrhosis but not quite. before it gets to cirrhosis it's reversible I believe. I am hoping to do the clinical trials they're running for nash at the moment in synexus. whereabouts are you?
