'Mass' in pancreas on CT
Posted , 5 users are following.
My CT in June showed a mass in the body of the pancreas that wrapped around the celiac plexus, along with splenic vein occlusion, dilated common bile duct and dilated pancreatic duct in tail of pancreas. An EUS didn't find a mass. It was suspected as post inflammatory acute pancreatitis following gallstones. I have had a follow up CT scan after 2 months, and it show the same as the first CT, no improvement, 'mass' etc still there, plus free fluid in pelvis. I have been referred back to multidisciplinary team meeting. Does this mean it might be cancer after all? Can an EUS miss a 'mass'? I am worried.

I wouldn't jump to conclusions. How old are you. What are your symptoms ?

Hi, thanks for replying. I am 56. Symptoms - upper abdominal pain, sometimes all round the ribs, back pain, weight loss (20 kg in approx 7 months), no appetite, varying diarrhoea or constipation (from co-codamol), specific pain under right rib, fatigue, wind.
I was taken by surprise when the consultant said my latest CT scan showed no improvement from 2 months ago, particularly with it still showing a 'mass'. Waiting to find out more is difficult!

I'm sure that the mass that was seen on your ct scan is benign. If the docs thought it was anything else, you would have been on an urgent note. The fact that your appointments are routine is reassuring.

Yes, that's logical. Thanks!

Either way, try no to worry, start juicing and eat healthy.
Good luck

Update: I am to have an EUS within the next 2 weeks and biopsies will be taken from the abnormal area indicated in the CT report, even if they don't find a mass as happened in the last EUS. Waiting for the appointment to come through. Like a time-warp going back 2 months.
