(Men only) Sex question when on Cit.

This is going to be for the men only!!! Sorry if this is TMI...LOL

I am most likely going to get back on some type of SSRI/SNRI for what is probably an anxiety disorder.

I am currently off of Cit. It helped me, I believe, with my condition.(I hate to say that) However, the one problem, and to me, it was a big problem. My orgasm, IF I HAD ONE, was like 20% out of 100% intensity. Didn't have a function problem really, just totally blah orgasms.

Did any of you guys experience this?

If so, is there a recommendation of another antidepressant?

PLEASE HELP...LOL!!!

    Hi James,

One of the major side-effects I experienced with Cit was the inability to have an orgasm at all. I believe it's prescribed for premature ejaculation but it stopped me dead in my tracks even on the lowest dose. That and nightmares made me give up Cit.

Thanks man for your reply. Cit. was very helpful for anxiety and depression. It just killed sex.

Have you looked into, or have you been prescribed anything different that wouldn't affect sex?

Not recently. About ten years ago I was switched from Citalopram to Dosulepin but I definitely wouldn't recommend that because Dosulepin's theraputic dose is close to its fatal dose, so it's easy to have an accidental overdose. It also has sexual dysfunction as a side-effect although slightly different to Citalopram as it prevents a full erection, so I went back to Citalopram. I'm now off anti-depressants completely and so have no knowledge of alternative treatments.

Very common James but not talked about a lot. I take Cit and knowing a few people who take or have taken A/D's i can offer a little advice. Everyone has a different reaction to each medication. I was on sertraline, apart the horrendous side effects i may as well have had everything chopped off. Zero libido, even when i tried it took ages and then the climax wasn't worth the hassle, for me anyway...lol.

Cit has hit the libido to a lesser degree but no more problems, if anything i can last longer but thats never a bad thing i suppose. It can be a head fcuk though if you let it worry you, the taking longer part but i saw it as a benefit, two minutes instead of one is a bonus.....lol.

Talking to others, they had similar issues and some simply couldn't ejaculate, they could be there all day. Its a real dilemma, you find an A/D that works but destroys that part of your life. You either swap and hopefully find one that doesn't impact your sex life or to a lesser degree or put up with it I'm afraid. Many come off A/D's or report this problem to their GP, they aren't sure why it happens but it affects loads of blokes.

Me too although i think wifey is secretly glad, I could never get enough, now we are more aligned.

I've got a couple of funny stories off people who couldn't ejaculate for months and then came off A/D's, I wont go in to details but it got messy. I'm sure you will get there, where there's a will there's a way and it sounds like you have lots of willpower on this matter.....lol. Good luck.
