"Moderate Papillary Conjunctivitis"??

For the past 6 weeks, I have had a condition in (only) my right eye that is a partial blurriness which varies in intensity during the day. Five days after it started, I went to my optometrist (over five weeks ago) who said I have "moderate papillary conjunctivitis" in that eye. He said he could see pimple-like ("papillary") growths on the inside of my eyelid. He said to use "Pataday", an OTC antihistamine eye drop once/day, as well as artificial tears such as Systane four times/day. He said it would clear up within 5 days or so. After 12 days, I went back to him and said it hadn't cleared up. He did another exam and said he could still see the growths on the inside eyelids. He told me to increase Pataday use to morning and night, 14 hours apart and continue with the artificial tears. He said the blurriness in my right eye, which varies by day, is severe eye dryness. He said it would clear up with a matter of days.

It's now been another 3 weeks since that second visit to the optometrist and the condition is still there. On the verge of depression. No enjoyment of life. Has anyone suffered through this condition? When and how did it get cleared up?

My question would be if you are a contact lens wearer? If so discontinue use of your lenses until it is completely resolved. You may even have to switch to daily lenses so protein does not build up and to eliminate the use of cleaner. Definitely do not sleep in them. If that doesn't work you may have to stop using them all together. I would also limit eyeliner, mascara etc until it is cleared. Best of Luck!
