"Monster" Attacks

I doubt you will find two the same but most will be close to the mark. Just the verbal description will vary that is all.

Mine was best described as 'Electrical Shocks' on face, in gums, varying from slight to incredibly intense. Then the 'Headaches' seemed centered on the left eye with as all manner of different sensations across the face (left side), in the ear and also down the neck.

KEEP LOOKING, KEEP RESEARCHING and KEEP MOVING FORWARD. You don't need a medical degree to identify the issues, and speaking or spelling the medical terminology correctly is not the issue. It is seeing what others use and with your medical specialists see what best suits YOU. RESEARCH.

The onset of my TN was like this...I got up in the morning and when I put my reading glasses on...as I slid them onto my face I noticed that the side of my face by my eye felt funny; then an hour later I noticed that the whole right side of my face from the eye to the jawline felt bruised, like I had been hit really hard.  I had uncomfortable sensations in my face for most of the day, then that early evening I had the electric shock like pain...no pain inbetween but the severe electric shock like pain that seems to be text book to TN.  But I also had what felt like a sore throat, a really bad sore throat...pain under my right jaw.  After being put on meds for TN my pain became more constant and low grade in nature with some of the electric shock pain at a lower level most of the time.  The "sore throat" has come back a couple of times and it is scary because it is really painful to swallow.  I have also felt like my lower right lip is swollen especially in the hour before the next dose of my meds.  I took my last lyrica 50 mg this morning....so we will see what the next few days brings.  Then I will start the oxcarbazepine.

Could be sensation coming back in your face from the surgery and the numbness I'm having crawling on head. My fsce is not numb, but numbness on areas I described in my text.

You can't get upset because if you get upset and yell at people that's when you get those monster attacks.

Always had crawling on my lips, head in on spot and lightly on face.

Had a slight crawling in my head before surgery now I have more crawling , thinking its because of numbness going away. I ate yogurt and I got shocks and pain on my gums.

I take my meds when I feel any kind of pain in my gums. I tried calling my Dr. Phelps, nurse about some headaches I've been getting, but so far today, no headaches . I will call my neurologist on Monday if they start up again

Make sure you don't have a fever.

Since I had mini stroke (brain stem stroke) I take aspirin that make me sick of my stomach. I am allergic to aspirin so I take a nausea pill first and then I take aspirin.

Once, I got really angry yelling @ grown niece (32) who don't know how to pack a dishwasher. She intensionably half does things. Hubby solved this,

We now use paper plates.

Hi Greg. When I have a bad/monster attack, it feels like someone is putting a live electrical wire into my ear/side of my head where ear is, that gives me a very sharpe and painful electric shock. These shocks come out of the blue, in spasams and periodical, say ever 5 to 10 seconds. This when on for over a week, was horrible. The only thing that gave me some relief was Asprin forte, has codene in it too. I didn't like taking all this strong Asprine becasue Asprine plays havic with your gut, I booked an acupuncture seesion; this was very successful. Other than a few little shocks, I've been pain free for over a week now. I'm also on Folinic Acid and Magnesium Chelate. These help with TN.
