.....more numbness!

Posted , 9 users are following.

Ok, so I've REALLY been paying attention to the numb/tingly feeling in my feet.

I think I may have it (possibly) figured out!

for the last few days, in the am (prior to dose of prednisone) my feet have been relatively "numb free'. about 1hr after taking pred. the numbness starts up again and continues throughout the entire day/night!

it seems to me this is prednisone related. does this make sense? has anyone else experienced this?

I've been on prednisone for approximately 6mo now, bounced dosage around 15mg....starting (yet again!) another taper today to 14mg.

I'm never quite sure what to anticipate as it's all been such a "bumpy" ride! I only know I'm anxious to stop this medication asap as I've had SO many problems/side effects!

any input/advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Lynda

I just answered Sami then I seen your post.

My feet are sore and tingly all day and night. Actually at night they feel more like a burning feeling.

Pred doesn't make any difference in my case.

yes, there's a slight burning feeling in mine as well. Funny, I'd not thought of that till you mentioned it! I guess that's one more reason this forum's so iinvaluable ...sharing!!

    Hi lynda62707

Sorry to hear you are experiencing tingling and burning in your feet. I didn't experience that whilst on preds. Have sent a list of meds that cause Peripheral Neuropathy....hope you can get to the bottom of it it not a nice sensation. B12 deficiency can cause tingling have you had your B12 checked?image

      Hi lynda62707

Oh no!...this is how it goes you will find as you go along another side effect pops into the arena. They hit you out of the blue. I was getting them from all sides. Ok, the pain of PMR has been controlled by pred wonderful!πŸ˜ŠπŸ€— but what is the point if you have a ton of other maladies to deal with, some of which are more intolerable than PMR pain. Such a merry go round of side effects. I do feel for you lynda and all the members who are going through it., but fight the good fight..hang on in there and slowly taper off pred see yourself this time next year😁...you may not be fully rid of PMR, but you will only have that to deal with...not a myriad of side effects with it!..be strong we are all made of strong stuff when we need it...keep the faith!...heaps of loving thoughts and the kindest of wishes to you and all the members on the forum who are dealing with this malady....πŸ‘πŸ’ž

(by the way did you notice preds were not on that list of meds that causes PN)...

lol mary....truth be told, I was unable to read the list if meds you sent me (due to the condition of my eyesight right now!πŸ˜–) it was just too small to see! Sorry😭....

my phone's also on the "fritz" right now, so it's making everything very difficult as far as typing and performance.....Ughhh!

      Hi lynda62707

Awwww sorry lynda wasn't thinking about your eyes and cataracts. Can you not zoom in on your fone screen with thumb and forefinger?.....not long now before your eye op you will be able to see clearer after that..have a good weekend...πŸ‘πŸ’•

in any case, hopefully I'll see better!😁 fingers crossed!!

Try to relax, They have improved so much since you had your tonsillectomy. My husband had a endoarterectomy last week, good chance of a stroke, and did fine and back to normal. They have improved surgery so much! Try to relax as much as you can. It will be just fine!!!

thank you elijo....trying to hang in there! what Other choice do I have?? LOL

Your choice is to remain calm and have faith. It really helps. Take lots of deep breaths (really deep). Your WILL be fine! I feel it!

      Hi lynda62707

Stop fretting! You wont look back.(scuse the pun). My friend had her cataracts sorted recently and said it was marvellous....she even asked the surgeon."is it done yet?" he said yes "all done" she couldn't believe it it took no time at all, no pain and no probs....you'll be fine with a new set of eyes....πŸ‘€πŸ‘

Lol elijo! ...deep breaths are difficult with a paralyzed diaphragm! OMG...what a "hot mess" am I??πŸ˜±πŸ˜–πŸ˜΅πŸ˜’

DEAR Mary....should I look at the time in surgery as a time to REST?!

Maybe I should be looking forward to this!😁😏

      Hi lynda62707

How do you mean a "paralyzed diaphragm?"Yes look at it as a stroll in the park taking in the fresh air and scenery on a beautiful sun shiney day.....πŸ•πŸŒ±βš˜πŸŒ΄πŸŒ³...

    • Posted

      Hi lynda62707

By "Paralyzed Diaphragm" do you mean a general anaesthetic? because a cataract op only requires local anaesthetic via eye drops which deaden the eye. You are fully awake and it takes 15-20 mins approx...job done!πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘πŸ€—

hiya Mary...I've GOT a paralyzed diaphram due to a medical procedure I had done about 6yrs ago (to clamp off a bleeding ulcer)... I had 11units of blood transfused for that "little number! 😰

In any case, my Phrenic nerve was damaged, and now now I've got limited lung compassity, ( hence my reference to not being able to take a deep breath!)

Hardly much of a rest - as Mary says, you are up and about in well under half an hour!!!!

      Hi lynda62707

Wow lynda you've been through it haven't you?....so i would assume you cannot get overly stressed because it would affect your breathing capacity, just stay calm and be a coolcase, the op will be over in no time. So the breathlessness brought on by pred can be extremely troublesome to you...if it don't rain it pours...my good thoughts are with you lynda, take one day at a time...πŸ˜πŸ‘πŸ’Ÿ
