" Shingle Bells"

Diagnosed with shingles almost 5 weeks ago. Started with pain that I thought was coming from abdominal hernia. By the time I got to Dr, blisters had erupted and Dr treated me for shingles with Valtrex and pain meds. Rash and blisters nearly gone along with fever, headache and malaise. However, excruitating pain remains and now have bumps on my cheeks in spite of being very careful with open blisters and cross contamination. In addition to pain, now having itching where I never had rash or blisters. Does anyone have any home remedies or physician treatments other than what I have mentioned?

Bless your heart! I cannot imagine this pain in my mouth like you. I pray you find some relief soon! If you are not taking narcotic analgesic you need it! I am a nurse and pain control is your right as a patient! You are not responsible for others bad choices. Legitimate pain has to be controlled by whatever legal means.
