0.4 to 0.8 Tamsulosin - How much will it help

I am on 0.4 Tamsulosin capsule once a day. I my symptoms are getting worse. I don't feel like I can empty my bladder even after going multiple times. My stream is getting weaker and it may be months before I am able to schedule surgery. I already have some side effects from Tamsulosin, stuffy nose at night after I take it and retro. For those that have gone to the higher does, how much does it help and how much worse do the side effects get?

    Not Too Shabby,

    I took both the low and high dose of Tamsulosin daily. The higher dose did little to help my urine retention symptoms. I had retro and some insomnia, but people may react differently to the medication. Scheduling surgery takes time, unfortunately.

    I have taken both doses, and had the stuffy nose symptom you are talking about The higher dose made the stuffy a little worse but not greatly. I took the 0.8mg dose for about two years. I started self catheterization in 2018 so I stopped the drugs then, and have been OK.
