1 mm prosthetic loosening

Posted , 11 users are following.

I had a RTHR just over a year ago and was doing great, VERY active! But a few weeks ago I started feeling pain and just got an x ray. The radiologist report was that I have a 1 mm loosening in the prosthetic. Anyone else have this happen to them? I am of course going to my hip doctor, but I am so scared right now.

Thanks to all who have joined this discussion and your healing energy and goos thoughts. My Dr. says I have a 1 mm lumency at the tip of the stem of my prosthetic. But since I have no thigh (quadricep) pain I should be OK. This seems to be quite a normal occurence and some people experience pain, others don't. I believe my problems were from over doing my workouts. No more kicking the heavy bag for me! My hip is feeling better every day and my Dr. said to continue my PT exercises and all my activities. We will continue to monitor the hip and I will continue to do strength training to keep it all good! Thanks and good luck to everyone considering surgery. Even if I have to get a revision (which will probably happen down the, hopefully much later) getting the surgery was the right thing to do.

I'm so happy for you!!! Both my hips are bad! So I might be heading for surgery soon!! I've been lifting weights for many years, obviously power lifter wasn't the greatest workout but I loved it! So now I train to stay in shape and pray my situation with my hips will reverse themselves!! Lol or at least keep muscles strong so I don't have to go!!! But cheers to you!!!!😄
