1 week down 5 to go!

Good morning hipsterz! Well yesterday was 1 week that I had my hip revision after I dislocated first hip within 3 weeks! I have 1 more week to go here in the inpatient rehab. The first few days were hard. I cried several times a day. Felt so alone and a nuisance. Some of the aides were not too kind. As per my dr yesterday, I need to go home in an ambulance.....he does not want me to do any vehicle transfers until the 6 week mark. I'm relying on a wheelchair and my good leg & walker to get around. Physical therapy is very limited, doing knee press downs, ankle pumps, foot circles, butt squeezes, and of course hoping on the good leg with walker. Have done stairs with & curb with walker. That one is harder. Occupational therapy is just getting shoulders stronger. This coming Wednesday they will come to my house and look at everything and give suggestions and ensure that I will be safe getting around as I will be home alone until hubby returns from work. I've been praying to my Patron Saint, St Jude several times a day asking to help me bear this cross and persevere these next 5 weeks. Prayers have been my helping me so very much. I look forward to going home. These hospital beds are hot! Heels are uncomfortable, bum is aching too. Trying to alternate bed, walker & wheelchair as, like most, constipations becoming a problem!! 😩 Wishing all a blessed day & God's healing.

Oh boy Linda! I wish I had a magic answer for you. I know what this feels like as I was also on strict precautions for over 10 weeks. You will get to the other side! I am 4 months post op after lthr and fracture repair. Unbeknownst to me, I had a different type of device placed inside of me, called an S-Rom to fix a displastic hip also. Please follow all of your precautions and baby the leg until they say you don't have to anymore. I was finally given medical clearance yesterday after 4 months! Don't see my surgeon for a year! It will pay off in the end! Blessings.  Cindy

Good day Linda. You are on a tough road - no doubt about it.

It is good that your surgeon stipulated am ambulance to return home - much, much safer! The last thing you need is an incident getting home!

And it will be good to back to your own home again. I hope you have friends who can set up a roster to visit and help you.

    Best wishes

Thank you Josey! Yes St Jude is also my patron Saint and my baptismal name. He has been there for me before!! I know my prayers are working as I am getting better, I just need to take my restrictions from dr seriously and be extra careful! It's gonna be tough, and I still cry, but not as much, but I'm looking forward to when I can use this hip without pain & difficulty!! 💖🤓🙏🏽🍾🎊🎉🎈

    dear linda,

I think that you are doing great - I am sure it is different and perhaps more challenging this time but all for your highest good -

you are moving around, do the exercises needed and that is it for now ...

don't take anything personal darling --- it is going to be alright - you are watched over and taken care of --

    bug warm hug

Well from another Linda (who has not been as severely tested), I think your attitude has been phenomenally good re this 'development'.

But I completely understand how good home would be right now.

Please let your friends in on what is happening and (although this will be hard for you I suspect), be explicit about how they can help with tasks and with keeping your spirits up. You will need this over the next while to keep sane.

I have recommended a few movies that I love over recent months ... ask your hubbie to try to get a copy of Life is Easier With Eyes Closed. This is a sweet movie set in 1966. Antonio, a high school teacher in Spain, drives to Almeria to meet John Lennon and helps two runaways.

It is made in Spanish with sub-titles but that won't spoil it as the acting and direction are sooo good. It will make you smile and cry and laugh - sometimes all at once!

With warm gentle hugs and best wishes,

      (The other) Linda
