I stopped taking opioids as soon as left hospital. I take paracetamol as required now ( not often )

The first two weeks after were the worst, I started to feel much better after the staples were removed and by 6 weeks I felt pretty good. I'm now almost 11 weeks post surgery and feel almost back to normal.

I bent my legs when sleeping, I was allowed to sleep on my side right away and I put a pillow between my legs.

I sat as long as I felt comfortable but initially spent a lot of time lying on my bed.

I was fortunate in that I didn't experience any swelling but I think it is perfectly normal .

    Hope this helps.

I stopped taking painkillers as soon as I got home too. I managed to faint in hospital while having a shower and dislocated my hip. After that it got very swollen, including my ankle. My surgeon said it was quite normal, it is still swollen six weeks after the op.When I got home I did try and get up every half hour although if I felt too tired I didn't bother!

its early days so becareful, i tried to leave out an anti inflammetary yesterday i defo need the two a day if i want to walk a do the amount im doing around the house now.

so basically everyone is different , you do what suits you pain wise but dont do without them!

get up and move around every half hour.

give yourself goals to reach like reaching a lamp post and then extend your walk every couple of days.

i went shopping with my daughter this morning she drove and i was exhausted this afternoon

if you feel grotty the odd day then rest, on good days dont overdo it

im 6 weeks post op and still get tired and sore, i sleep every afternoon and when i first came home was in bed at 20.30 every night .

just remember its not a race not everyone heals or recovers at the same rate, listen to your body and it will serve you well .

    just becareful

swelling for months is normal. Pain meds depend on the persons pain tolerance, procedure and other I took Norco for 5 days and then just Tylenol. I slept just on my back not sure about bet knee but you bend your knee in walking and therapy. Good luck it gets better each week
