1 week today!!!

hi there,
I have today reached the heady heights of 1 week post op & think things seem to be going well.
The nights are hard, as people have said, but I seem to sleep best propped up a bit.
My question is, at this stage, how much walking should I be doing? Just walking around the house from time to time? outside short walks?. Also, when returning to my chair is it best to have the leg elevated rather than sitting upright.
Be happy to hear some "1 week" comments on the above

Hi Bob, do you live in a quiet area, maybe you have a block or short avenue you can start to do laps of? Make sure you use both crutches, stomach in, straight back and heal toe. After a few trips out you will soon be walking properly using left crutch, right leg, walking pattern rather than the cog system of crutches, operated, good. It will be tiring at first but try and up your step count every day so that it exercises muscle and you get back to a proper gait. Don't give up the crutches until your consultant appointment is best advice, even if you start feeling brave, it's easy to get into bad habits and end up limping or waddling again. Good luck!!
Forgot to say, elevate after walking for 20 minutes or so, ice if swollen, heat pad for muscular aches and pain worked for
